I took apart my 50 amp 220v plug finding that the green wire was "cut short" and not being used. It was assembled using only red and black. Should I use the green or only red and black.

50 amp service is a 4 wire red, black, White and Green
30 amp is 3 wire ,red, black, white, possably red, black, green

The green is the safety ground wire. Yes you should reattach it.

Thanks for the info, I agree with using the green as a ground but could not understand why it was cut short. I looked at Charles ISO boost installation instructions and it clearly shows the green being used in it's wiring diagram. I called SR tech support, they could not answer why it wasn't either. It's now wired correctly and I won't electrocute anyone.

It is better for you to call a Spark and have your whole system checked out. Who knows, it might have been caused by a bad manufacturing procedure and maybe your whole system has no grounding. The worse case is having a power failure while at sea. You might as well check the insulation resistance of each of your wires.

Thanks, you are correct. That was the first thing I did after finding the incorrect wiring. Everything was grounded, connections tight with the exception of the 50 amp main. Burned beyond recognition, absolutely the worst I've ever seen. Nut came off with my fingers! Not enough space between the lugs, terrible! All others were good, checked them all, re sprayed with spray grease, put a laser temp gun on all connections. So far so good.
