New to here, not new to boats. Purchased a 1994 Sea Ray 220 Signature BR w/ 454 + Bravo 1. Had some issues with fuel pumps, raw water pump, belts, and carb cleaned. TOp speed is only 40-41mph. IT runs great, idles great i just cant figure out how i read and see everyone almost 50+ and im 10mph under it.
I havent checked the prop but it is a Mirage, looks original. im at 4900-5000 rpms WOT. Is that too much? if i drop pitch and it drops 500 rpms would that even make huge difference?
Card looks stock with the Carter/Weber 750cfm, has an adapter plate on manifold, looks stock?
Do these boats ever get water logged? doesnt seem heavier than normal, it sits in water like it should.
Any ideas?

I would try a different prop first to determine if that's the issue. Mine runs 48 - 49 mph @ 4800 rpm wide open throttle. It has a 3 blade Mercury Vengeance SS prop. Boat info above.

Agree - prop is the place to start. Or, it could just be that your speedo is off - can check that with a GPS type unit.

Yep. I had 454/Bravo I 300hp carb'd on 25ft SRV cuddy and I over prop'd it intentionally and could do 42-45mph depending on conditions and current. Could only get 4200 rpm but I could cruise at 30mph at 3000 rpm all day long.

Its prop or guage.

Was out on Lake all week, it sounded great but hard starting. here's what I learned:
- it's eating gas. After the Mikes carb rebuild it ran fine right out of gate and started up very quick. Now over week it's getting too much fuel from start to full throttle. Float level?
-it has the stock mirage 21" prop. No changes.
-it seems to be all fuel related. No spark issues or any other levels I could worry about.
Do I rebuild carb cause it might be just flowing gas in washing it down?
