Well as many of you know I am looking into buying an older DA as a second boat. Been looking close at 3 different mid 80'S 270DA's with twin 350/alpha etc. all around 15-20K. I stumbled across a 220DA with a single 350/alpha. Actually from the pics it looks pretty similar to my overnighter in size weight etc. the price is very doable/justifiable for owning a second boat. Has aft cabin, v-berth, full galley, and head with shower. makes it easy to stay all weekend on the water, and or have friends out longer as well. Still plan on keeping the OV. was pretty set on the 270 size but gonna go look at this one hopefully today. opinions?

also looking for more info on the 220 DA. looked up the archives. but hoping to get more info here too. Like headroom in cabin etc.:smt024

Sweet! Thank you. I did search a few times and it never came up. Cool. I am 6 ft in the dot. Glad to hear there is room

I had an 89 220DA for 10 years from 98 -- 2008. It was my first boat and I loved it.

I can't imagine a better cruiser in that size. Great use of space on that boat -- the cabin and cockpit are both very roomy. I've been on all the 230/240 DAs made since then, and they all feel smaller than the 220 DA.

The helm seat flips to face forward or backward. I kept it facing backward and added a helm bench seat.

The one drawback that stands out on that boat is storage space. There is just adequate cabin storage space, and basically no cockpit storage.

The cabin has 6 feet of headroom, and the head has 5.5 feet of headroom.

Mine was loaded with 5.7, shore power, refrigerator, alcohol/elec stove, batt charger, camper canvas, 3 deck hatches. I overnighted with 3 other people all the time. We had a blast and were always comfortable. The V-berth is huge, and the aft cabin is nearly the size of a double bed.
Excellent choice for a budget small cruiser.

Now that's the info I am wanting to hear. I am still waiting on the seller to respond to my call and email. I really wanna see this boat

I loved my 220DA although I felt the cockpit seating lacking and also added a bench seat at the helm.

Well looks like I need to find a different one. It was sold today:(. Think I really like the 220 over the 270 for now. Anyone know of another 220 out there?

I picked mine up for a grand.. It had been sitting for 8 or 9 years, but all in all it is in pretty good shape. this is going to be my first. It needs some cleaning and get everything working properly but if you find someone that has one sitting you might be able to pick it up cheap

I would like to do that too. Then I would probably put a 5.7 with a B3 on it. Or even a yanamar diesel like Isola has done to his. Fuel costs would easily justify it. I have been running my truck on my own home brew biodiesel for the last 7.5 years. Can't beat 14 cents a gallon

The 220 DA is great. But dont rule out the 89-93 250/270 DA. Those are getting pretty cheap now. 3 feet bigger than the 220 DA -- same layout, just a bit more room all over.

I have been looking at three of them. But they have been in the 83-86 years. I really want one.
