Why are the later 215 about 1000 lbs heavier? How different are the 215 EC and the 215WE. Looking at several in possible purchase. ☺️

Slightly different design. A lot of 215WE have the Bravo 3 which adds weight. Looking at comparable photos, the WE has more robust fiberglass reinforced helm and passenger seats as well as a larger engine cowling. Most also come with a dual battery setup. It seems the swim platform (not the extended on the 225WE) is a little farther back which tucks the outdrive in a little more. It also looks like the gunnels may be deeper as well.
I tried to quickly find the specs on each but was unsuccessful.

While it looks the same, it is actually a completely new model and "slightly" larger. The only way you'd really see the difference is having them side by side, though.

The 215EC was/is a great boat, though. But, yes, it's confusing with the model names... When the 215EC was was re-designed, it was first re-designed (about 2002?) as the 225WE. Then a few years later a 215WE was introduced. Same hull as the 225, but no extended swim platform (standard, anyways) and more of a "base" model as compared to the 225 as the 225 came with more "things" to start with. But they're both the same hull.

Thanks guys. Very much. Yes specs I’ve seen are same for both except for weight. Hence my question. In my mind heavier better on the water but on the trailer, not so much. Would be close to my tow vehicle max of 6400 if trailer comes in at 1500 or so….
