2023 slip rates

We’ll see ….so far he is onto something the other lawyer didn’t even see….. for sure I can’t do it….. so what do you do
I do Took and Die these days, but used to do lawyering. Business and insurance stuff, employment defense and the like. Some real shady characters in that business. I remember when I was going thru some BS here at my company and my lawyer wanted us to sue as we had a really good case (which we did as an uncle "stole" several hundred grand via an insurance policy). I told him, by the time you add up the time and stress of a lawsuit, the only one's who win with a lawsuit are the lawyers. Problem is the lawyers stole over $300k as the family fought it out. Funny how that works. Anyway, divergence from the post.

You were a lawyer?

When I was CFO for a law firm my favorite word was litigation! Always solved any cash flow issues the firm might have been having at the time. Good luck @Blueone.

I just got my contract today...another $150 whack. $1750 total now.

The increase used to be $50 per year for decades. Now it's triple that with no end in sight.

Newport, RI….$275 per foot, floating docks, $1200 electric, $350 water. May 15 - Oct 15

Yeow! That's $2840 per month for the five months. Then also have the dry storage costs in the winter months. Must be a 5 star marina..... Around here we are pretty much by slip size rather than boat size - for a 50 foot slip annual contract it's $780 per month plus electricity which is around $70 per month (for my boat). But then again, RI has quite a bit of parasitic costs compared to Fl.

My condo fees are just over $1700 a year. I pay electric ($14/mo in the winter and $35 summer) and property tax on top.

My condo fees on the slip I just bought are just under $3K/yr. (all in) Compared to my current SH marina which will be ~10K/yr this coming season if you stay in the water for the winter.

I think most slip fees as high as they are is pure greed against the boaters. To me it can make or break many that love the lifestyle and forces them to think about what's next before I can't afford to have this type of fun!
We live in a capitalism economy where the price is determined by the market, not greed. Because of this we have lots of choices on virtually every commodity and service you can imagine. Prices are set as high as possible consistent with the market forces which are pretty brutal.

Not quite when it comes to marina and lakeshore development. All kinds of hoops to jump thru which restricts supply.

My marina is half empty. True Capitalism would suggest the price would go down, not up every year like it has.

FWIW, The rate that I posted, $275/foot, is less than what a lot of other marinas in Newport charge. I agree that it is high, but I choose to stay in Newport. I could go elsewhere for less, but I live here and I want my boat close to me.

I’m 4 hours from my boat….. no choice the puddles in Indiana are too small :(

Just got our bill, its $103.50 per foot for 50 foot floating dock in Milwaukee. Hard pill to swallow but, it is 25-30 min. from my shop to the dock.

You guys are just getting bills now…… my marina likes us to pay right at Christmas

Unless they want it to go empty so they can do other things with the property with less uproar.

Can't go empty as it's a state park, run by a contractor. So no chance of condos, homes, etc.

Reefpoint is $4100 plus tax... so pretty similar...
