2019 GPS Week Rollover Event

Thanks for noting this. It would be wise for everyone to check their manufacturer websites for updates and legacy equipment after the roll over.

To summarize what is going on the GPS signal contains a counter the includes the week number. It appears that the counter resets every 1024 weeks (19.6 years) back to zero and restarts the count up. This information change if not handled properly by the receiver could cause it to have incorrect data. (Kinda like Y2K all over again but just for GPS receivers unfortunately they happen to be in most electronics these days).

Crap I hope it does not effect my Smart Phone. I use my GPS to find stuff every day in my job.

According to that post my units are good. Interesting to note that Chuck the moderator is a graduate of SUNY Maritime College as am I (and astronaut Scott Kelly) and a few others on CSR.
