2018 Sea Ray build quality review

Interesting to see the progression of your ownership. We are going into our 15th season with our 270 SLX (Kickin' Back) and it runs as well as it did new. The only major problem we had with the boat was when our marina destroyed the windshield and I had a hell of a time getting a replacement from Taylor Made. Well at least until COVID hit and the furloughed customer service and the engineers started answering the phones. Once I spoke to the head engineer, I had a replacement windshield in 4 weeks (I had been dealing with customer service for 8 months before then with no results. Thank you Nick!). We had 17 adults aboard last season and, while it took longer to get onto plane, it cruised comfortably and everyone found a seat. The gel coat is amazing, everyone that asks is shocked that the boat is 15 years old. We have a couple small cuts in the vinyl, but overall it still looks good. We were going to get it reupholstered this off season, but we have had some unexpected major expenses and decided to just have the cuts repaired for this season. Nobody notices them but me.

Couldn't be happier with our boat and have no plans to replace anytime soon.

So here we are in 2024 so I thought I would do another update now that the 6th season of use is over And we are headed into the 7th season.

Similar to the last few updates, the boat is holding up better than I originally thought it would. The gelcoat still looks new, but it is covered all season with the factory mooring cover and stored indoors for winter. Twice per season buff and wax keeps it fresh looking. No additional rips or tears on the interior. I have been very fortunate that no mechanical issues have arisen, the motor purred and performed perfectly, the onboard systems all worked fine. I am sticking with the 7.5 out of 10 rating.

So I guess here is the best summary I can provide thus far, as much as I have looked, and budget is not really an issue, I have not found another boat that I like better to replace it. The performance, roominess and aesthetic appeal still has me keeping it. Even I am surprised by that….
