I just bought a 2015 290 sundeck. I traded in my 25 foot tritoon. I'm on the Lake of the Ozarks. I'm curious what others think about their 290 sundeck. I don't see too many posts on here for that model. We bought one with the wakeboard tower and the 8.2 liter. I'm guessing my gas budget will triple next summer!

Congrats, that's a really nice boat. Post some pictures! I like the integrated swim platforms on the new (larger) Sundecks. I wish SR would incorporate that into the 220 an 240.

I love the big sundecks but don't know anyone who has one. I even asked awhile ago on this forum if anyone liked their 290/300 sundeck (not the newest style) and I got no responses.
Good luck with the boat and let me know how you like it.

Agree, they look nice, but they are just too expensive for what they are so hardly anyone buys them. Sad really. If they made them reasonably priced I think they would sell quite a few.

Yes, they're definitely expensive. I'm on a very busy lake (Lake of the Ozarks) where a minimum of 25 feet is necessary for weekend use on many parts of the lake. I traded in a 25 foot tritoon because it simply couldn't handle lake activities on busy weekends. We wanted a boat that we could wakeboard behind yet still handle the choppy waters which rival the Gulf of Mexico on some days. Hard to describe except to say I see about 40-50 sea ray 40 footers + on any given Saturday.

I was on the 290 at the boat show in January and loved it. If I didn't have 2 kids in college I would most likely trade my 270 on it. My wife, not so much. Also we still love our 270, a few quirks, but it has been perfect so far.

I hear you on the wake at LOTO. I bought and sea trialed my 420 there. I was shocked at how choppy it was for a lake, especially near the big bridge heading to the party cove.

Oh yes... that part of the lake is crazy. The Sea Ray dealer is very close to that area. Looks like you're on Texoma. Great lake.... I'm originally from Dallas.

Congrats on the boat! I was actually at the dealer last week inquiring about a 300 SLX. I am looking to upgrade from my 240 Sundeck. After taking a look at the SLX for a while I jumped on a 290 Sundeck and let me tell you I was BLOWN AWAY. It seems like the layout they designed on the 290 is years ahead of the 300 SLX. There is just soooo much room and everything is distributed nicer. The 290 sundeck reminds me a lot of the 350 slx, more so than its little sister the 300. It seems that the only drawback of the 290 is that it's single engine but it's also about 50k less!!

How have you like it so far? Does it handle well in the high chop? Mind posting pics?
Enjoy!

Enjoy the new boat!

I grew up going LOTO and it's crazy how busy it gets. Before I bought my first SeaRay I looked at Sundecks and the 205 Sport, but ended up decided on a cruiser. Where we boat it gets choppy a good amount of time and there are a lot of large cruisers. We also decided we wanted the option to stay on the boat overnight and escape the sun for a bit, so the cabin is nice.

Enjoy the Sundeck and post some pics when you get a chance.

I have a 25' with 8.2L and its not as bad as you think. We've been out 7 times on one tank of fuel.

Enjoy. I have an '08 290 Sundeck that we use on inland lakes and rivers as well as in ocean. Extremely versatile and great for entertaining and fun on the water. Only a few minor issues since purchased in 08. Like it a lot better than the new 290 Sundeck layout and more room than 300 SLX. Gas consumption not bad.
