2015 290 Sundeck-Need Help

I boat on Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri which is a very choppy lake due to boat traffic. My engine cover keeps on opening after I hit a large wake. The pin that the "door" latches onto was a little loose so I tightened it. Unfortunately this only gives me temporarily relief. Inevitably it will unlatch after hitting some rough chop. Anybody else have this problem before?

I had an upholstery lady install snaps and nylon straps on every hatch and seat cushion. I don't like to tow with a cover on, because it can beat the boat to death, so the snaps and straps keep cushions and hatches from flying out of the boat.
