I have a 2012 260 Sundeck that is on a lift on our dock for the winter (first year outside). I am thinking about buying a trailer next year so I can store it indoors over the winter again (it just kills me to keep it outside and will lower the resale value long term). Anyway, along with that we are looking at building a house or garage loft on some lake property we purchased - where we built our dock. As a side reference to how much I hate keeping it outside, I am also asking about a full boat cover in another thread on here :).

I need to make sure the boat will fit into the garage we build. I know the beam is 8'6" and the LOA is 24'6" with the swim platform. The magic google machine tells me most single stall garage openings are 8 feet wide and 8 feet high so I am fairly certain I will need to go with a double door for the width or a special design for a single stall door.

What I don't know is the height and length when on a typical dual or triple axle trailer. I will take the bimini's off so I only need to know the height to the top of the windshield molding. I also need to know the length from the start of the hitch to the end of the swim platform.

From the measurements I do know of the boat I am estimating a height of 6'10" and a length of 29'4" when on a dual axle trailer.

I know this is asking a lot but does anyone have a 260SD with a swim platform stored on a trailer where you could easily measure the length and height so I am sure any garage sizes we design will be good?

Any help at all will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

I saw your cover post also, so this answer is all in one.The new 260 is the same as the 02-10 240, except they reconfigured the rear seat to have a rear facing branch at the platform. The rest is the same. 24' hull with a 2'6" bolt on swim platform. Makes 26' 6" overall. Look around your docks for someone with a 240 sundeck and you will see what I mean. They were a real popular boat.

We have an aluminum trailer, with the 4x6 cyprus bunks. it sits a little taller than the steel trailers with the bent axles. the top of my windshield is right at 9' on the trailer, so you will need a tall garage door. With the drive up, mine is 31' from prop to tip of trailer.
Overtons sells a custom cover, either Sunbrella or Sharkskin. I have the sunbrella, I roll it from the stern to the bow, fold the roll in half and carry it off. It is a little bulky, but it only weighs 30-40 pounds. I use it on our dock, and for winter outdoor storage., made 5 pound sandbags to clip on where the trailer stops would go. you need 12 to go all the way around. The draw string has enough stretch that it keeps it on yet doesn't have to be untied. It takes me 5 minutes or less by myself to put it on or off and attach all the bags, to help with windy days. We have used ours for 6 years now without any problem. It is on the dock all summer, and in the backyard in the winter.
