4.3 MPI 220 HP
I am currently working a deal on a 2012 185 Sport with the 4.3 220hp. It is a new leftover at the dealership on their floor. I am getting it for under $31k. The sticker on the boat was $41k. It doesn't have the under seat cooler or the snap-in carpet. It has the 2-tone gelgoat graphics. I want to see if that seams like a good deal. If anyone can give me any pointers or advice, that would be great.

On "Yacht World" they range from 23k to 29k. But those ones do have a few hours on them. It's winter AND the dealers are already taking delivery of next year's line up. Try an offer of 27k. They can't beat you up or call you names,,, all they can do is say no and counter with a higher price.

Bought mine through Sea Ray via the CostCo deal for 24K back in June of 2012. Not the 2 tone gel coat and the 3.0L but I can't see that price for that boat.

I think the engine's a key factor here - whether it's the MPI or MPI/catalyzed. I had a 2010 185 with the 4.3 TKS that I got for $26K (new) with two tone and snap in carpets.

I am also getting the Costco deal so I will be getting the gift card. I guess that is something else. I have seen cheaper prices on the 2012, but with the 3.0. I am going to add the 5-year warranty also. I will try to get them to work with me on that a little. I know that those prices always have a little wiggle room in them.

I liked my 185 and feel I got a great deal on it, but looking back realize I chose it more for the "deal" I felt I was getting rather than it being the best boat to meet my particular wants and needs. Hence, my getting a different boat shortly afterwards - and when you consider the hit I took ($) in changing boats so soon, I would have been better off ($ ) just getting the boat I *really* wanted the first time.

I bought the 2012 190 Sport last year and it was about $2k more than the 185 sport next to it, at the time it was listed for $31k so they are listing it for about the same price. I was told with the price of boats going up that I could have sold my 190 this year for what I paid for it. I think I would try a little under 30 and see if you can negotiate them down a ways still. That 4.3 is a nice engine, you don't want to give that up, if you got the 3.0 it is at least 5k less.

The dealer is throwing all of the gear in with the deal. I am getting 6 life jackets and all the other safety gear that is required to be on the water. I am also purchasing the 6 year extended warranty. I am trying to work on the price with the business manager. I know there is some wiggle room left in the price of the warranty. But yes JeffW, I want that 4.3 MPI motor. I know that is going to be great on the water.

So What is the Story? Did You Get The Vessel? If so what was the offer? I bought my 07 185 sport with 42 hours on it for $13,500 with many Extras, Hope you get the best deal Possible..

I bought mine earlier this year for $30,000 out the door including a snap on cover and installation of that. It has the snap in carpet and the under seat cooler.

OOPS...Never mind, mine is the 190 Sport. I would continue to try to get the price lower if you are still working on this. Especially since the 2013 models have been out for almost a year, making the 2012 actually a year old, even if new.

I ended up getting it. They knocked another $1k off the price. I even got the name put on the boat by them for free. I also got my puppy a life jacket thrown in. I think I got a pretty good deal. It was brand new with the 6 year warranty in the deal too. They also had a front bow cushion made and installed. The 2012 didnt have the front cushion. But I wanted onem for my dog to sit on. I ma happy with the deal. If I would have pushed a little more, I might have saved a little more. But they treated me pretty good through the while thing. It took me about 6 weeks to make the deal due to my work schedule and being able to get down to the dealership. They held it for me with no money down for that long. I know that I could have gotten a better price on a used boat, but I wanted to know what I was getting and also have a full factory warranty.

Congratulations, if you use the boat and are happy with it then you got a good deal. No sense ruining the relationship with the dealer pressing for a few more bucks off the deal. I think you did well, at least you bought a Sea Ray.

Here she is.

Congrats! When a deal stretches six weeks and they aren't exactly begging for you to hurry with a lower price, I take it as a sign they were about as low as they were going to go. As Blaster said, having an intact relationship with the dealer doesn't hurt - especially if you have a six year warranty relationship ahead of you.

My original selling / broker dealer still has the exact same staff as when I bought my boat three years ago. There were some contentious moments in the selling cycle, but we seemed to work it out.

Now, no more fretting about the deal and enjoy it!
