Hello All,

This is my first season back on the water in a long time. I'm located in the Kent Island area and I was thinking that there must be a wealth of knowledge out there for boating events. So rather than spend hours upon hours researching I would just ask a few fellow boaters what their favorite events are. So, please post away with your favorite events in and around the bay area.

There are alot of things going on but namely the big one of the summer for SeaRay owners is Aquapalooza. I just checked that website tonight and they don't have the date set for Baltimore area yet.

Last season was my first on the Chesapeake, but I heard that Rock Halls Pirates and Wenches Fantacy Weekend is fun. (Also shouldn't be to far a trip for you) I believe it's August 15th & 16th this year. My family and I are going to check it out.

Agree on Rock Hall pirates. Also check out the RH fireworks on the 3rd and the "Waterman's Day" which is the first Sunday after the 4th (or the 4th if it is a Sunday). In addition to the anchor-throwing contest, the highlight is the boat docking contest where the crab boat captain come shooting out of this fairway and then have to turn to the left and split two pilings (in reverse) and tie up to the bulkhead (actually they just throw a rope at it) without crashing in to anything. All in a single screw workboat.

Get a seat up front and bring your camera and a rain coat. Don't bother if you are allergic to thick black exhaust smoke.

Since you hail from Kent Island, don’t forget the thong and bikini contest most summer weekends at RedEye’s in the narrows.

Just checked and Waterman's Day is July 10th.

Thanks all for a great start for my calendar. I was hoping that there would be so many boating opportunities this summer that I would have to struggle with the what to do next question. Keep the ideas coming, I'm sure everyone has a favorite event or activity on the bay. Mine is overnighting on the hook somewhere nice and peaceful.

Right... and I meant to say first Sunday after the THIRD (which this year would be the FOURTH). Nonetheless, it is cool. I recommend RH for fireworks on the third, watch the waterman on the fourth and then go to any of a number of places for fireworks on the evening of the fourth.
