Just purchased new 2009 43 Sundancer.

The cockpit window glare is terrible looking forward. Anyone come up with a solution for this?

Other than using black towels to cover the deck in front of the dash!

Does the boat have a white dash or is it tan / other color? Most of the sundancers (other express cruiser brands as well) either have or had an option for a colored dash for this exact reason. If you have a white dash I am not sure what to do....

Are you wearing sunglasses if so are they polarized?

Trues...How about your opinion of the 43 when you get a chance....Great boat....Sorry to hijack thread

NO that makes it worse. The dash color is light grey. I guess we need to install a cover/towels.

Thanks Everyone.

Interesting. This is the same issue I have when wearing sunglasses. When the glare is really bad - as in driving into he sun- I have to stand up and look through the canvas' plastic windows in order to see (and I HATE canvas). The glass has a slight tint to it- and the polarized sunglasses for some reason work against the tint in the glass.

I'll be interested in hearing any solutions to this. I now understand why so many of of the trawler type boats have the forward leaning windows.

The boat is an absolute dream. I'm not sure why we don't have more of them on this site. I will post some pictures later.

I plan on getting a black towel material made for the front deck before the window.

How many 43 did they make?

I'm assuming the area under the glass is white or off-white gelcoat?

Prime example of one of the stupid things boatbuilders do...
Another boat I owned had that entire area under the windshield covered with a heavy, high quality embossed black vinyl- glued down. Worked and held up very well, as well as providing a nice, somewhat non-skid surface.

yes it is, we have to use black towels...

Congrads on the puchase of a gorgeous boat.

I guess, the only fix is to create color contrast and darken the dash. One of the ideas is to have helm dash cover made of two pieces that would snap on. One, the forward part, would stay on all the time and the other would come off while the boat is in use. I would make sure to have the snap properly done to prevent the cover unsnapping when you have the vents open. The last thing you want is for the cover to unsnap and end up in your face while you're cruising.

Why should a person that buys a million dollar boat have to use towels and play engineer to fix a problem...... Once again, Searay needs to bring in or conference call all 8 43 owners in and have round table discussions on how to make boat better and stop screwing around and being worried with changing the "name" of boats from 48 to 50, 36 to 39, etc.....Love searay, but sometimes they just dont get what end user wants or has to say....

Excellent point

We can only hope that SR listens to their customers.

You could always trade the boat with mine....I don't have a glare problem. That might make my buyer, yer buyer upset but he'll get over it. I had my boat listed for one week and received an offer! Making an offer on a 410DA now.

I love the 410! Hopefully that works out!

Seriously why should somebody spend a half mil or more and have to lay towels down or have something made at their cost to reduce the glare. The question is, do the new 47's have this same problem or is it corrected?

Here's another idea....if the color cotrast is the solution, why not have SR find the optimum darker color and paint the top of the dash?

With anything like canvas cover or whatever cover you put there will have it's maintenance issue. The dirt will get under, snaps fading out, etc...
