Where is the best place to ask questions of other owners of this boat? ('09 Sundeck 290) More specifically, how do others control water that comes in through the day covers via the bimini holes and windshield? The cockpit bilge always has 3" of water in it as does the engine bilge. What have others done to mitigate this?

Welcome Aboard

I could have missed it, but I did a quick "search" for a 290 Sundeck thread, and didn't see one at first glance, although there were a few threads that talked a little bit about them.

As for looking for other 290 SD owners, you could post a thread in the "General Discussion" section, or this section like you did.

For specific repair questions, do a few searches first, (there is a ton of information out there that's already been discussed), then if you don't see what your looking for, provide as much information as possible in the "General Maintenance/Repair Questions" and you'll be amazed at how helpful and informed some of these members are.

I'm not even going to speculate as to your OP question about the water, as I am not even close to an expert, and I'm sure you'll get much more valuable information from others (that are) that will reply.

Best of luck to you.

Another 290 Sundeck owner here - happy to share ideas.

I had the same issue (in fact mine was filling the small side cabin with a lot of water). The main culprit was where the cockpit cover meets the bow cover at the front center window (vs. the bimini holes). I had additional canvas sewn onto the cockpit canvas at the bottom of front window that meets with the bow cover (now overlaps and velcro's across entire front windshield), and also had some smaller ones sewn over the bimini holes. Now very little to no water. Any good canvas shop can take care of this for you, and if your dealer is any good, they will get Sea Ray to cover the work/cost under warranty. I will try to take pictures some time and post - but it solved all my problems.

Thanks. I have water coming in where the plane of the windshield changes. The rubber seal has a break in it there. Would caulk be OK? . . . or is that a no no?

I am also surprised at the amount of water that sits in the cockpit and engine bilge. The drain is a good 1" off the floor as is the bilge float. Any ideas?

Are you still talking about water coming in when the covers (cockpit and bow) are on - or when off? Not sure I understand the area around the window you want to caulk (post picture?). If new and/or under warranty - talk to dealer.

Water that sits in cockpit - do you mean in the center ski locker? The interior cockpit is self bailing and should always be dry. I believe the bilge is continuous under the gas and waste tanks - so anything in the bilge in the engine hatch can run forward into the ski locker.

My bilge is dry almost all the time or very minimal water (unless rain with no covers on the boat - or kids get in good water fight with the bow wash down). If you pull your drain plug, let the bilge dry, and then use the boat and bilge is still dry - the water is coming in from cover during rain (so get cover modified). If it is filled with water with no rain ... then you have a more serious leak somewhere (leak in stern hull/deck joint, swim platform bolts, engine hoses, etc. can all be culprits). Good luck.
