I have an issue with my port tach and am considering replacement. The analog guage is inop intermittantly (reads zero or low), but the digital display is constant and correct. This leads me to believe it is a mechanical/electrical issue in the analog guage itself and not an engine or smartcraft issue.

A replacement tach is only around $100, but I'm not sure if it is an easy swap or if there is any calibration required. Hoping all calibration info is in a smartcraft module and not the guage.

Can anyone help? Thank you.

Careful on that. Smartcraft tachs come in two flavors. One is a System gauge (SC1000) , the other is a Link gauge (SC100). The System guage is a master gauge, meaning it has other functions besides tachometer. More importantly it sits on the helm end of the Smartcraft data network and receives data pumped into the network by the engine computer(s). The System gauge then parses this data out to the Link gauges, like oil pressure, volts, water temp etc. The Link gauges don't function without a System gauge.

The Link tach is around $ 100 and the System Tach is around $ 275.00 Make sure you get the right one as they are not interchangeable. If you have other data displayed on your tach and it has buttons at the bottom it is a System Tach.

Thanks Henry. It does have a display at the bottom (with buttons) and is capable of displaying other info so it sounds like a System tach. However, the Sea Ray dealer quoted $106 for the part (based on my HIN). I was assuming the speedometer was the system guage.

Sounds like I might need the dealer to replace and calibrate if necessary.

most likely you will need dealer for that
smartcraft gauges are factory configured to be stb gauge and you need marcury tool to change that (via software)

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have the dealer do the diagnostics and replacement.
