This is the back rest for the fold down bench seat. Any ideal how to remove it?

Thanks in advance!!

I would imagine your backrest is attached the same way my 260DA's was... screwed from the backside (bilge). You have get down in the bilge... then reach up to get to the screws.

Just to double check... Use a credit card (or similar) and feel between the cushion and fiberglass for fasteners. Carefully pry on the cushion a bit till you can see the fastener. A corner is probably the easiest.

Another option is to do whatever you need to to remove it - even destroying the backboard where the screws bite in by ripping it out (or with enough clearance, cutting the screw with a hacksaw blade).

You can then decide to reattach in a similar fashion... or use Christmas Trees... or use upholstery clips.

As @Lazy Daze said it is most likely through bolted but not all may be accessible via the hatch because of the well you have back there. You may need to get in behind the shore power connections. If you have a shower at the transom entrance pulling that and looking up would let you get the best view. If not you may have to pull the cup holders on each side.

I also see from your info that you are local to us so if you are pulling this to work on it let me know if you need any help as we also do canvas and upholstery work.

To remove the back rest. you have to lay down on the deck and look at the bottom of the pad. You will see screws that hold the back rest in place. Remove the screws and tap the bottom of the back rest with your palm and the back rest will then come off. 5-minute job.

Well that's much better than the old way! Are the screws through some type of small grommet? I've seen that method used on some fishing boats.

Lazy Daze,
No grommets that I can remember. Screwed into the bottom of the pad. The boat is wrapped for the winter otherwise I would have taken a picture.
