Curious if $250 plus shipping $40. Total $290 sounds right for a Capet to cover my swim platform? Platform is 9 ft x 4ft..being generous. So 36 sq ft or 4 sq yards of carpet. Marine carpet and binding. That's $70 per yard. Sounds high to me. Just don't want to be ripped off. Anyone know a carpet person on Long Island NY?
thx!

Not sure, but for that kind of money, spend another 150 and put down Seadek; much nicer IMO than carpet for the swim platform. I just did it on my AJ, grey over black and could not be happier. I have to get some pictures up, but if you search "Seadek" you will get the idea.

I agree it sounds high. I also have a 270 AJ and had new carpet made last fall for the entire inside for a bit over $600.

I used Coronthian Marine Capet Aqua mat. Very good experience with them and would recommend them. They have a discount for CSR members. They have a new option to use a special Velcro to hold down the carpet. Might be good for the platform instead of snaps that stick up

The key is to make agood template. Take the time to lay it out exactly how you want it.

Peronally, I'm not a fan of carpet on the swim platform. I find even a mat stays soggy from rain, spray, and wet swimmers. But if it works for you, great!

It's called seadek. www.seadek.com

To do my platform it was roughly $ 500. It was really easy to put down. The stencil tracing can be somewhat of a PITA, but was worth it. Check out the website, it is pretty straight forward. You can go crazy with the stuff and it's affordable compared to plasdek, nuteak etc. I am thinking about doing the entry into deck above platform and the stairs and floor in cabin as well.

I would also take a look at PlasDECK too at: www.ttcustommarine.com They have templates for most boats so no need to do that yourself. They just need make and model/year.
