2007 340DA fuel gauge showing more on plane and less at rest.

I asked this question in the Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread a month ago but I guees it's missed.

"Is it normal that both fuel gauges show 1/4 while on plane and shows 1/8 just coming off plane and standing still ? And also same time generator was still running at half load, until how much fuel left will it continue to running ?

My other boat 2005 280DA's fuel gauge shows less on plane and more at rest due to the sender at the front of the tank and pick up tube at the aft of the tank which is located longitudinally to the boat. 340's fuel tank is perpendicular to the boat and senders are close to the pickups if I'm not mistaken."

Curious if any other 340 owners' are having same ?

Fuel gauges are notorious for being wrong. Your best bet is to buy fuel flow meters. Many now will display on a multifunctional display.

Mine fluctuate a lot. They do drop when coming off plane.

Every boat I have owned behaved this way - the fuel float is usually mounted in the rear of the tank, on plane the boat is at an angle and more fuel flows to the rear of the tanks making the gauge read higher.

Mine not fluctuating but scared me after came off plane having 1/8 fuel if it's the actual amount left in tanks even it's diesel.

Contact Yanmar. Depending on your engines, they may already have the electronics for the fuel flow built in.
