Since I bought the boat in 2007, I have always had about three inches of water in my bilge. I think the location of the primary pump is one reason it won't drain all the way down. My question, however, is why do I always have three inches in the bilge? Is this normal? Do others have this same issue?

I've thought about placing a small 500 GPh pump further up in the bilge and then tie into main discharge tube. Although, I'd like to figure out why and where the water is coming from. I'm guessing I could have a small leak in a through haul location, but it seems to settle at the same water mark all the time and the pump is not overly pumping?

Any thoughts, comments, suggestions would be appreiciated. I'm afraid that constant water in bilge will promote rust, which appears to be happening....

thanks in advance..

Same here, every time it rains water will run down the engine hatch and collect in the Bilge. It's normal!

If it rained heavy I'd get enough the bilge pump sometimes kicked on. If I sponge it all out and there is no rain it stays dry. I took a good light in the bilge and looked around, I could see staining on the inside wall of the hull in a couple locations. I re-caulked rub rail screws and now I have almost no water after a rain.

Vacuum, sponge, whatever it takes to get it all out, then figure out the water source. Water in the bilge creates a high humidity condition that accelerates corrosion.

Salt water is completely unacceptable in my book; everyone deals with rIn water to an extent. I would find the origin if the leak and fix it ASAP.

i have the same problem i will find it this spring i am re caulking radar arch where it meets the hull I am also re caulking every screw on rub rail. I have same boat, and i am constantly shop vacuuming the bilge after storms. Keep me posted

I would find out if it's salt or fresh water...
If if it's saltwater do you have B3 drives?
If so check for rusted steering pin(pins).

Daro4,

The water is fairly normal in this model as SeaRay has a drain in the Shore Power Compartment that collects the water under the aft seat/transom bench and is hosed through to the bilge. If you lift your Engine Room Hatch, you will see the drain hose attached to the hatch. This design has always drove me crazy. It also might be that your pump hoses need to be tightened. If you are getting water in the bilge with no rain, then I would investigate further.

Hope this helps.
Mike

If everything else is dry except that center compartment you shouldn't have a problem. They designed it that way for water to drain in there. If you wash the aft seat with a water hose like I do sometimes and lift your engine hatch you will see water coming through a tube draining in the center compartment. I don't like it. The drain tube is to close to my generator on my V drive model

If fresh water, and if water only after a solid rainfall, definitely take a shot are sealing up the rub rail as that is known ingress location as the boat ages. Also have a look at any access ports. In the attached picture, I had rainfall entering in through the access panel....it would see direct rainfall and it allowed water to seep right on by and down into my bilge. That access panel is useless to me, so I've put a bead of caulk around it.

I was down on Sunday ran the hose on rub rails port and starboard nothing in bilge, also ran water where arch meets hull, no water again. I will keep plugging away. My dock mate laugh everytime I pull out the shop vac. I don't mean to change the subject have you found any replacement for your ray marine northstar radio. Mine is disintegrating, and I found out they don't make it anymore. Keep in touch

My center trough has water in it all of the time... glad to hear its normal.
