Just got my new 2007 240 Sundancer and it has a AC unit requires dock power to operate but my dock has no power to it. Since it does not have a generator and looks like heavy cost to put one in Iam looking at trying to use a portable generator to power and was looking at the Honda EU2000I ( 2000 watt ) just for powering AC. Will this work ok?

Thanks
John

Thank god! I was so over reading about Guns On Our Boats.....

This should spark up a wonderful conversation. I'm sure there will be a bunch of people answering this post.

Me personally...I'd think twice about the risks

Dude......you've been here since 2009. There have been at least 10 portable generator/popcorn-worthy threads since you have been a member!

If this is a serious question, I would suggest that you google "clubsearay.com portable generator" and read about the risks.

The answer is yes you can. You can also find numerous plans for sound deadening boxes that can be made rather inexpensively. Properly isolated from you and sound insulated, you will be fine. Enjoy your new boat.

Ok after reviewing some posts looks like a Honda EU2000I can run the AC just need to be careful on how you handle

The generator has a floating ground so bond the neutral and ground together. Then install a 6' ground stake and connect the generator to it by bolting a jumper cable to the generator and then clamping it to the ground stake.

Wow!!!

There is no sound way to make a portable generator safe for a boat. Period. I would never put my family or friends in harms way in this

And how any neighbors handle, whether at the dock or on the hook--everybody's CO monitors must be functioning properly. For good measure, we have two monitors--the one that came hardwired into the boat system, and a portable. The portable tends to be more sensitive than the hardwired one, and we're ok with that. (Same thought applies for integrated generator, too.) Don't be surprised if others ask that you not run the generator during sleeping hours.

Congrats on your new toy!

I'm with you. I'll get the popcorn going. Who is bringing the beer!
