2006 Sundeck water pump

Hello, last season I was having an issue with the water pump on my 350 mercruiser. I would get the boat out and the over heat alarm would go on. I would have to open the engine compartment and remove the plug from the top of the motor. Turn it on again until water came out. Then I would shut the motor down and replace the plug. The motor would have no issues the rest of the day. This would happen every time I took the boat out of the water. Someone called it airlock and they said it was common. The dealership said it needs a new water pump. Do I need a new water pump?

Won't know that answer until you pull the pump and examine it. With all that running dry it was doing, it's quite possible my now. I'd be looking at it ASAP before you do more damage, overheats will kill other parts
