Hi all
First post here and just bought my first Searay and could not be happier.
I live in Sydney Australia and do a heap of boating on the Harbour. After going through some choppy swell last weekend I noticed my port side bilge vent cover fell off. These are just sikaflexed on!
the starboard side has 2 screws in it( previous owner must have put in).
Can anyone help in sourcing this part??
I have emailed Searay but expecting a costly quote.
Anyhow thought I would try here.
By the way I'm really enjoying this forum.
Cheers

Yes they are just glued on. I had the stud side replaced on our 280 a couple years ago because of cracking. The 280 is out of production so there may be problems sourcing a replacement.

When I did mine I ordered the pair, but when I found out they were USD $300 plus each I opted for only the one I needed. If you get no joy from SR corporate, you can try contacting the dealer here in Boston, Russo Marine. They may have the part I ordered in stock. It's a long shot, but stranger things have happened. They recently moved into a new facility outside of Boston, I'll try and get you the contact info in the next day or two.

I was quoted about $900 from Sea Ray for a replacement cover a few years ago. They do not stock the part and would have needed to custom make one.

I bought a 280 last year and had the dealer replace my port side vent cover. The color didn't match at all. I was a little upset and thought it needed to be gel coated. I contacted Searay to inquire if the dealer needed to gel-coat them. It turns out that since it's made of plastic you can't gelcoat them. I inquired with a painter who says the only way is to use spray paint. I sort of laughed at the idea.

There is a seller on eBay who is having them made in Mexico out of fiberglass. He created a mold then outsourced it to someone in Mexico to make them. They come color matched to the hull. If not, you still should have no problems getting them gel-coated to match your boat. I think I paid $150 for both vents. I'll be installing them in the spring.

Russo Marine is who ordered my vent covers from Searay. I've seen the boston location get them in in a blue plastic. I don't recall Searay making that color blue. The ones they got me were white but the color didn't match the hull, which pissed me off. When I called Searay they told me that the vents only come in one color and may not be exact. There was nothing they could do because of who they're having them make them.

Thanks for your replies guys. Yes they are made from plastic not fibreglass. Im still waiting on the Searay quote. I have seen the ebay fibreglass option and looks like i will go with that at this stage. Moral of this thread is;
DONT LET YOUR MAINTANANCE GET BEHIND!

Same happened to me when I first got my 280. It really was a poor design on Sea Rays part. I guess they were looking to save a buck on a couple of screws.
