2006 Sundancer 240

Dave S,

No disrespect taken! One of my main points is the use of short Trim Tab corrections, one second or less. And to let the boat settle down between corrections.

All boats are different and when it comes to Sea Rays you guys are the pros!

I do not often post on threads although I explore this forum EVERY day. I will post an occassional question but this specific topic almost made me regret my purchase. When I purchased my 2007 240 DA, getting the boat on plane then listing both port and starboard were the hardest for me to overcome. I felt the engine was not powerful enough and could not figure how to keep from leaning when finally up on plane. Whether this is right or wrong, I have now figured out how to trim the outdrive to get on plane and work the tabs to keep the boat from listing, and I agree with Dave S on his comments. When coming out of the water I have to give it a lot of power, but I have to start trimming my outdrive to get on plane and then let off the power a little. I never use trim tabs to come on plane no matter what my load is because it never helped me plane when I did use them. I only use the tabs to correct listing. This has worked best for me regardless of how much fuel, water, passengers etc. May just need more or less throttle depending.

Thank you for all the information and photos you have been most helpful. We will try using your advice.
