i am in the process of upgrading the factory cockpit tv which is a Samsung 17HLV85. Can I use the same power supply on another tv? Has anyone on the forum made this upgrade?

B7E7A94C-56EA-4B39-B36B-4A6C810A8489.jpeg I replaced all my TVs with Samsung smart TVs and installed
A Wifi system. Everything was great until I found out Samsung smart TVs are not compatible with Xfinity. Now I use them with Amazon. For the cockpit I used a 19” that tucks inside the arch and out of the way of spray. Using all the same brand enables the use of one remote. I’m really happy with Samsung.

Wouldn't your new TV come with a new power supply?

After removing the cockpit seat back I was able to finally locate the port side receptacle. Installed the new power supply and cockpit tv on the pole.

Here is my question regarding the cockpit TV. 2006 380 Sundancer. The boat has a tv and presumably goes in to a slot behind the captains chair. There is a little ledge there with a hole for the tv pole and a cup holder I think. My question is where do you plug the tv in for the power, and also where is the connection for the glomex. I assume the boat came prewired for all of this........at a loss.
    Thanks,
    Mark

The gfi outlet is on the starboard wall about 12” aft of the hole for the tv mount. You can access via the speaker hole under the captains seat and also if removing the cockpit seatbacks. My Glomax was removed a while ago,no info on that.

If your Glomax was installed by Searay as mine was, your Glomax antenna is wired to all the TVs at the same location as your satellite dome. You’ll need to look at the Glomax control inside the cabin. That said, yes all the TVs are networked with the Glomax.

Ok, thanks Bow Tie. Should there be an antenna cable already run somewhere?

Is the Glomax connector to the TV a RF?:

What did you use to connect to WiFi? We have WiFi at the slip at the marina. Can't I hook into their WiFi with a password?

Any help appreciated. I'm replacing my TV's.

Yes the Glomex antenna has a regular coax cable to it and the device in the cabin is a signal amplifier. All the TV today will be digital RF broadcasts so your will need to make sure the tuners are ATSC compatible.

When it was mentioned networked - it refers to a simple bus type coax network where the signal just runs through a splitter to branch off.

My Wifi is a groove antenna booster connected with a high speed router. I use it with my smart TVs but it has nothing to do with the Glomax antenna. When I enter a marina, I connect my WiFi to the marina Wifi and boost the signal allowing me to steam tv. Hope this helps.

Just a question on how to remove the seat back. Just pull it from the fiberglass?

Usually the seat has tabs that get screwed into the fiberglass. Taking out the screws allow you lift the seat “up”, there are bolts that go into holes on the top. Or, seats can also be secured using screws in between cushion seams/bolsters securing it to the fiberglass. Sometimes very hard to find the screws, but they are there.
