I am looking at a 260 that is ~350 miles from my home lake. We have a 2017 Yukon XL - 5.3L V8 with 3.42 rear end upgrade. Standard Class. Our hitch is only 5,000 lbs and needs to be upgraded, but with that upgrade, will we be able to comfortably tow the 260 on a custom aluminum I-Beam tandem axle trailer? I don't want us to be on the ragged edge of disaster for a trip that long. Thanks in advance!

What does the Tahoe owners manual say about max towing with your installed equipment?

The Yukon XL manual says 8,100 lbs (with upgraded hitch). The 2006 260 Owners Manual says 7,000 lbs dry weight. Add trailer plus whatever is on the boat. I'm looking for real world experiences towing with a comparable Yukon XL/Suburban. Thanks for help.

If you are going to keep the boat in a wet slip at a marina when you get it home just find a towing company to go pick it up for you.

I know a lot of people will disagree, but you should be fine.
My wife's 04 Tahoe would pull our 06 260 very easily. I only used it to pull appx 8 miles to the marina, but it was no problem at all.
Don't tailgate. lol

I have no doubt it is physically capable. That said, If you get in an accident, the insurance company will likely deny your claim if you exceed the tow rating. If someone gets hurt, that's a whole 'nuther kettle-o-fish.

My Ford F-150 ecoboost is rated to pull 11,300 lbs. I pull my 240da all over the place with it and it pulls fine. But if I had a 260da I would definitely be getting a 3/4 ton truck.
