Hi! I have a 2006 sea ray select 200 with the 5.0 and Bravo 3. Earlier this summer the mechanic found gear oil leaking when the leg was lowered during dewinterization. I had the carrier bearing prop seal replaced and thought all was good!

Yesterday I noticed that there was oil leaking from the same location. We had only used the boat for a couple hours since the above repair was made. Could this be the same problem or perhaps something different?

Probably the same location... probably due to corrosion of the drive. Salt water use? The metal looks like it hasn't been protected/taken care of and the internal seal area withers away.

Mine leaked last September. Lower unit around the seal was too corroded to hold a new seal. Had to get a new lower. If you do, get an SEI. Less than half the cost of Merc with a 3 year warranty not 1 year. I am very satisfied with the SEI.

I'm not sure SEI make Bravo III's, I had the same problem but it was due to the carrier seat being out of round and the new seal wouldn't seat correctly. Luckily for me my mechanic had and older gear case and he used that instead of making me buy a new case.

Ya, not sure about SEI and B3. At the time, the shop offered me a used B3 or a new SEI B1. Same price, no warranty vs 3 years. No brainer. That was a year ago. Don’t know if SEI has B3 now.
