I am considering trading up to a 2006 44 DA with QSC 500's. I have decided I want to upgrade to something about this size by the spring, and prices are soft now so this may be a good time. Can anyone offer any particular advice about this year, model and power? There are also a few 05 46's available for just a few more dollars... but there's always something just a couple feet longer and I am trying to narrow to a decision point.

That's right. You remember all the fun. I had the 340 it just one season. It was a transitional boat from my old Chris Craft. I really enjoyed it a lot and it was a great boat but the Admiral is game for moving up, and when that window opens up we can never be sure how long it will stay open. And the prices are really soft. As far as documentation it, based on the previous experience, if I get the process rolling now it may actually be done by the spring!

What do u want to know about the boat?? Motors are awesome... boat cruises about 28 -30 mph at 38 GPH... 80% of load to motors ... Great boat...

Some tight spaces for service but u cant have everything in life...

Engines are great. No issues after 250 hours. While I don't own the boat in question, it's a beauty. I'm glad to answers any specific questions on the engines.

FWIW, I came very close to buying a 44DA within the past month. PM if you want pricing information for what a 2006, 2007 sold and closed for from private parties. Very nice boat. Good luck with your search.

Thanks for the input so far. I was close to moving on it last week but some things came up and I had to put it on temporary hold but I will probably go ahead with the upgrade in the next few weeks or so. I have found three excellent 44 at excellent prices. What a great time to buy a boat. I have also been offered a 2006 40 which is a lot less expensive and I could certainly live with a 40 but I still like the 44 a lot. I need to bite the bullet.

I took a trip last month with a couple in a new 44DA. Great boat and a superb performer; however, I was struck by the difference in size between it and our 450. The 44 is significantly smaller....it is also a lot quicker but burns more fuel. The owner of this boat was still struggling with the delay between when the electronic controls are shifted and when something really happens. I've run bigger boats with even more lag, so it wan't a big deal to me, but it is something that some owners have difficulty with.

If I were in your position, I would at least look at a 460DA with 6CTA mechanical Cummins for the same or less money than the 44.

Excuse me for throwing a curve ball at your plan...............

I have about 425 hours of helm time in my 03 420DA. I do not have QSCs, but the rest of the boat is identical to the later models. If you search the 420DA thread there is a lot of useful info to be had.

I did the same jump. 03 34 to and 06 44. Ull love the smoke-less Diesels. The QSC's perform flawlessly. The engine sync and low idle all are fantastic additions. We boat in the north east from march til almost december.. 150 hrs a year min. Its a great boat. Other then access to certain items for sevice wouldnt change a thing. This boat can tame some serious WAVES.... Good luck...
