I have two Interstate Starting Batteries in my ER and I check the battery fluid levels about once a month since I purchased the boat in May. I turn the battery switch OFF whenever I leave the boat but leave the Battery Charger ON. I've noticed a very strange thing: The aft battery has 4 of 6 cells that are VERY low on water every time I check them. The front battery cells remain the same level all the time! Summers here in TX are running 100+

Any idea if this means anything? Should I replace the aft battery? When using the boat I run the Guest Battery Switch on BOTH.

Thanks for you help!

Mine are two years old and I have the same brand starting batteries you do. I have never had to add water to my batteries in this whole time frame. I run on one battery or the other when I am one the hook so I can have a fresh battery for starting when needed. Lately though neither battery I select to use on the hook can maintain adequate voltages to restart the motor. In sight of two hours the "house" battery is down in the 11 volt range. Yet both are fully charged before I leave the dock since I leave the battery charger on when plugged into shore power. The strange thing is that load tests don't show anything wrong with either of the batteries. So I intend to replace mine with Blue Top Optima AGM Deep Cycles Batteries.

I know I didn't answer your question Don but I think you might want to get yours load tested as well. If they check out OK and they hold an adequate charge when you are on the hook then they are probably OK. Just top them up with distilled water as necessary.

You need to check for corrosion on the terminal post on the batteries. That can trick chargers into over charging your batteries. Therefore shortening their life and making them go through water.

Also, ask your local Interstate dealer, they're good about supporting their product.

BTW>I have 2 Interstate 27 Deep Cycles Marine Batts.
