2006 240DA - some thoughts

As I mentioned to someone in our marina a week or so ago, I am able to check in here only about once or twice a week right now, but really look forward to being able to do so. I guess I feel a little guilty about missing a discussion and have just a couple of things that I think ought to be said.
First, as an owner of a 2006 240 DA (2nd season) I find it to be a fine boat. Others have expressed issues with it and I admit my boat is certainly not perfect. But, it is a good, solid boat that serves the needs of my wife and I well. Not perfectly, but I did not expect perfection in any boat.
I did reply to a PM with what I hoped might be relevant information. I guess it missed the mark and I'm sorry. I really should have posted a reply to the thread as I think it may have added to a little civil discourse.
Which brings me to my feelings of guilt. I find this board to be an invaluable place to get information and opinions, which I then weigh for myself against other information to make choices. I do feel that I may have somehow shirked my end of the deal by not adding something to last week's discussion about this boat. But, there are some really bright people here who are a lot more technically savvy than myself.
capnjohn; I feel that you could have been better directed to a previous thread that did help me a lot regarding the (what I feel is) screwy way the trim tabs are designed and installed on this boat, which others have also indicated make them pretty much useless. I find the boat does trim well with the sern drive, but is often in need of further adjustment. However the trim tabs are simply not worth messing with. They are a waste on this boat.
Again, I just wanted to express my appreciation to those of you who have answered my questions and who post so much great information here. It makes it a wonderful down time destination on the web. Just wish I had more down time this year. :smt001

Capnjohn may or may not be a 240DA owner.........we will probably never know but there certainly is some doubt in my mind.

While I believe there are some issues with the 240DA, there is no doubt in my mind there are many satisfied owners like yourself out there as well. I believe each of us has to define whether a particular boat works well enough for us or not. If we feel it does not, then by all means let's discuss it rationally here on CSR. Issues have been raised many times in the past about something in particular with a certain model boat and usually we can come to some conclusions by intelligently discussing the issue or problem. Unfortunately the previous postings started by Capnjohn turned into something akin to a bar fight and Jim and the moderators stepped in and put a stop to it which is the way it should be.

You shouldn't feel guilty about not replying and we do look forward to your future participation on the board.

Bob,
Thanks for a reasonable posting. You say that you can point to a posting that helped you out with your trim quite a bit. Would you mind posting that here? I searched and there are so many postings here on trim tabs it is impossible to weed through them all to get the right answer.

Thanks for any help you can give.

This posting is three years old and that poster (Duck Boater) has not posted anything else on CSR in three years either.

I am not sure what your questions are but if you would elaborate a bit, we can probably help out. Also please tell us more about your boat. Your boat information says you have a 240DA with a 454, a combination I have never heard of. What year is the boat?
