Okay - to start, I am new to the site. Joined a long time ago but havent been here in a long time and just started coming back and looking around...

Regarding my question / problem - I have a 2006 195 Sport with Wake package and my boat has these "peices" on both sides, above the graphic that are obviosly somesort of after thought of Sea Rays. Within a year of buying the boat new, one of these was cracked and one was loose. These came from the factory with a less than appealing "silicone" job and once the first one broke, I attempted numerous times to get it covered under warranty either by my dealer or by Sea Ray. I was turned down each time... I have dealt with the issue the last few years...

After seeing that from 2007-current models have the same "indention" on the sides of the boat (they now have a matching graphic there), I know for certain that Sea Ray knew it was a problem becuase my year was the last year the "cover" was put on. I have tried to get my dealer to cover the costs of removing the less than acceptable "cracked and broken" covers but they said that they will charge me to do so. This infuriates me because it was OBVIOUSLY A KNOWN ISSUE IF SEA RAY DID NOT CONTINUE TO INSTALL THESE...

I finally got to a point that I was going to remove them myself and removed the port side (left side) and there is just white silicone on the bottom and some sort of brown epoxy or something across the entire top edge. Now it just looks like crap... All from an issue that Sea Ray knows about but will not correct.

Has anyone else had issues with this "cover panel" or have any advise?

Thanks so much!

Scott

There is no way that I am the only one that has this issue... Anyone?

Speaking with my dealer, this is a very common issue (and should have been a recall, but wasnt)... No one has this issue with the "side vents"...?

Scott

I feel your pain Scott. I had that boat.. Thought those non-functioning side vents were weird too. I wonder what the idea was in the first place? How did yours get cracked? Mine were just a bit loose at the bottom edges.

It would be a cool spot to mount a fiberglass tower that sweeps forward.

btw.. just looking at the picts of the 195 and the girls that come with it, makes me want my 195 back.

haha - yeah - maybe a little false advertisment...? i think if that were the case, i wouldnt care about these stupid vents!

the port side was loose halfway down and would just rattle the whole time while in the water. So to prevent loosing it, i basically pulled the thing off tinking it was only held in place by the while silicone - well i was wrong. now the vent is off and there is this brown looking epoxy across the top of that area. i think i am going to take the starboard side off too and then just worry about how to remove the epoxy stuff.

As far as how it got cracked - not really sure - just noticed it one day...

I know this post is old but I am having the exact same issue right now. What was done to correct this?

Thanks

I know that this post is old but I am having the same issue right now. How was this corrected? Were you able to get the brown epoxy off?
