2005 sea ray 300 da selling as new price question

I'm not gonna lie I don't know my rpm, cruising speed...however the fastes i've gotten is 49mph, but its tight on my river so I can't confirm that's the fastest she'll go...pretty fast if you ask me

1 thing that I will say about 4 footitis is that our neighbor who has a 45' trojan came over and told us that we would be trading our boat in next year for something bigger..he says "That boat is useless, its too small to be comfortable and too big to do anything with."

Now I don't know if its just because we have the bigger motors..but we have no problem water skiing, tubing, wakeboarding behind our boat, we also have enough room to party, have cook outs and sleep aboard

So to put it in short i find our boat to actually be the perfect combination if possible

I have to agree with you about the size A*aron. It really is a good size but that really depends on how you use it. It's big enough to be comfortable as a day boat and maybe one night aboard for a couple. Big enough to go out for the day with friends.

I always considered it a sport boat, even with the 5.0's. Mine goes 43 MPH, cruises at 30-34 turning 4000 RPM, burning about 25-26 GPH.

I suggest you get an uderstanding of these numbers. Gas is expensive.

I decided never to go up to a 320 or 340. I just didn't feel that you got much more for all that extra money. The boat would be slower and use a lot more gas. Didn't seem worth it to me.

I just put a deposit on a Meridian 341NSB. The boat is exactly double what I paid for the 300. And yeah, it is a lot slower and uses a lot more gas but there is no comparison in terms of space and luxury. It's a whole different type of boat though. There will be no more tubing and skiing is not an option.

What you get is inboards, a fly bridge and upgrading from a dark cabin the you climb down into (like any express cruiser) to a cabin that you walk staright into that has kight coming in from 360 degrees and two real staterooms.

Do you have any pictures or a link to check it out?

Yeah I agree its all about the use..Personally if I had to do it all again.

I would have liked to buy a 25' baja for the river , and a 360 or something with a fly bridge for lake erie(money permitting)...There is still time though i'm only 24

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to afford two boats. One for fun and performance and one for comfort and luxury. But the 300 is a great choice for one boat that offers a little of both. Actually a lot of both.

go to meridian-yachts.com and click the 341.

Keets, I went from a 1988 230 Sea Ray to a 2004 280 Dancer. The only mistake I made now that its all said and done is I didnt get the 300. At the time interest rate was a little over 3 %. :smt021 . Its true, get as much as you possibly can afford. The 300 is a great boat, good luck.

DebtStar, its nice to see someone from this area on the board :smt001

I just traded my 260 for a 320. Looking back - I never pictured myself buying a 320. Now I think I should have just bought a 320 back then.

Wow Aaron only 24 and you have a 300DA? What do you do for a living? I think whatever it is, you are doing pretty good for yourself. :thumbsup:I'm looking forward to sharing some 300 stories with you. Kind regards, Brian

I'm in Retail Construction Management...it's a very niche type of construction. I am partners in my business with my Dad who has been at it since 1980. Together we do alright.

I just got back from the boat show, and I further appreciate my love for my boat...and I was a little dissapointed with the display model 300. I think mine is nicer actually.haha

I wish there was more pictures of everyone's boats

I'll post plenty after April 7th when we take delivery. I didn't want to post pictures of her in the virtual marina while she's up on blocks. It didn't seem right.

Keets,
It was mentioned somewhere in one of these posts and it bears repeating. Regardless of what you end up buying, GET THE BOAT SURVEYED!! The few dollars you spend on a survey can save big, big $$$$!

well, I went to the boat show in pittsburgh. I ended up getting a 2006 260dancer. Everyhing except genny. Good price. I love the 300 but I Like to travel and ride my bike also. I don't understand if I'm buying new why would I need someone to check it over????? What should I look for? Aaron I bought that 260 sitting there at the show. Thanks for all the advice. Keets.

Hey that's great...I was actually on the boat..I did a whole bunch of comparisons and until you get to the 300 I didn't notice tooo much difference between sizes for what you were looking at....The only thing that gets me is the headroom in the rear room...I think by Saturday most of those Sea Rays were sold..some incredible pricing..that 300 they had there was not worth the money in my opinion tho...for the same price you could have the four winns which was reallly laid out!!

That 380 was badass and looks so huge..i could only imagine what the 52 or 60' dancer would look like out of the water in person.

My dad was drooling over the prices on the silverton sport bridge...a lot of room for a 33'

What was your thoughts on everything there? Do you have any pictures of your new boat?

Guys ,
I grew up boating with my parents. My dad would always want me to pilot the boat. ( my dads a perfectionist ) I would occasionly take the helm but often grew tired of the over correcting he would do. So I'd never even attempt to dock his precious LOVE. Fast forward 20 something years... My dad passed from cancer ... and i got the boating itch... I started with a 26 DA... As an experiment. We had 1.5 yr old and a new born. We werent sure how the kids would be ... Long story short end of that season kids loved it ... we bought 30 DA... MEt some great boating people that took long trips ... WE NEEDED a BIGGER BOAT .... end of that season purchased a 34 dancer. KEpt that boat for 3 years and last year we bought the 44.....

Moral of this story is purchase the most boat u can afford. Ur always going to want more... ITs the nature of the beast...

I remeber looking at the cleats on the 30 in the showroom going holly sh@# what did i just do.....

Ull love what ever boat u get ... and ull always have envy of that larger one....

Good luck to u ...

Rob

I thought the boat show was cool. I wish they had a better place to eat in the show though. Roger from fox chapel seems like a great guy. I'm going to keep my boat there , fox chaple, for a week and stay for a long weekend before I take the boat to my dock. I'm going to get a waverunner also. I hope I don't outgrow the 260 to soon, if so I'll just have to upgrade. :smt009 Keets.

It will be somewhere in the 25-30 mile range. I'm docking on the beaver river. I'm going to St. Martin in mid April so I'll have to get the boat in early April or the last couple days of April.
