I want to add a Camper Canvas to my "new" 390DA, but I can't find anyone that makes it. I've been given a $1900 quote for the top (including 1"x .065 SS tubing) and $4650 for the 9 panels of enclosures (2 screens at stern). And this was using standard Sunbrella and 40 mil clear vinyl. Sunbrella premium was a $625 upgrade and Strataglass was $900 extra. I realize this is custom work and maybe this is just sticker shock, but WOW!

Has anyone else had this done and how much did you pay? Maybe I can find an upholsterer who saved the patterns and could replicate, saving $$$ compared to custom.

We did the same. Crazy prices.

This year we are going to make our own canvass. Sunbrella can be bought at fabric stores especially in the spring. Wife will be busy doing the sewing. We are looking at a camper style screened in style. I'll let you know how that turns out once we get up and designing.

Not an outrageous number, unfortunately its market pricing. I would definitely get some quotes but watching them do it, I think you will be surprised at how much time and effort is involved. There are some threads on here about doing it yourself, but you are also looking at industrial sewing equipment. I think Carter Chapman has the same general idea and has researched it pretty thoroughly. You might want to give him a shout out.

I prefer to have it professionally done and don't mind paying for custom work. I just don't want to overpay since I have no experience in such matters

What about great lakes canvas? I think they will have patterns for your boat as they supply searay.

I contacted Great Lakes and they indicated that they did not have the pattern (Sea Ray never offered it). They recommended custom...

Well i guess thats one drawback to a bigger boat,no factory canvas, not bad just saying .wonder if other manufacturers offer canvas with a larger boat or if they need custom also?

It doesn't have anything to do with the bigger boat, Sea Ray didn't offer a camper package on their newer boats (or ever that I can remember) so Great Lakes wouldn't have a pattern from Sea Ray.

Custom is the only way to go, if you have a good canvas guy you will have a far superior product that you can have tweeked to your own design.

We have a guy in bay city ,pleasure crafters, that is top knotch,i couldnt afford him though.

I had a custom camper top done on my 05 390 last fall by Cantou Upholstery in Senica. I do not have any pictures but Dan took them when he finished. He made the top, windows with screens and new front windows for less than your quote. You would have to bring the boat to Senica but that would not be a bad trip from Peoria. Call him at 815-357-8038.

Thanks! That may be the best news of the day. Unfortunately, the boat's down on KY Lake and I won't have it up til the Spring. I'll give him a call.

I had acustom enclosure made in Baltimore last year. The enclosure includes a sunshade for traveling and the camper style canvas without runing the lines of the hardtop or boat. We have had many compliments on this as it does not look like abox on the back of the boat as i have seen on others. I hope this will help. I can locate some pics i will post along with the supplier. I
believe the cost was around 2K

It's all custom work and that's a very competative price you have, Here's a name for Sunbrella, Tri Vantage Look them up and call them, But I'd have it done, trust me it's not easy and then you have to bend the stainless bars (without crimping),5K it's worth every penny to have someone else do it...

If I could get it done for $2000-3000, it would be worth it to me. I'm not sure that $4500-6800 to gain a few seats is worth it
