2005 260 DA hard to keep under control

Thank you to everyone for your great insights and confidence in the boat. We love the boat and yesterday was a great day with more to come.

A quick question - is there a dimmer for the gauge lights / back lights on the smartcraft gauges? They didn't work last evening with Nav lights on and engine running.

There's a way to dim them, but it's not a switch. I'm not near my boat right now so I don't have the smartcraft manual handy. There's a way to do that using the buttons on the gauge.

You need to use the Quick CAL Calibration function on the SmartCraft guage. To adjust the gauge light levels and contrast:
  1. Press the "MODE/SELECT" and "+" buttons simultaneously for approximately two seconds or until the "QUICK CAL" screen appears.
  2. Press the "‑" or "+" button to select the option choice displayed in the [ ] brackets on the screen.
  3. Press "MODE/SELECT" to save the setting and advance through the calibration screens.

There are two other "advanced" modes for calibrating the gauges.
  • CAL 1: hold "MODE/SELECT" and "+" buttons for 7 seconds. Generally, this is for modifying the information displayed by the gauges, such as units and what screens show when scrolling through. Exception: the drive trim gauge is calibrated here.
  • CAL 2: hold "MODEL/SELECT" and "+" buttons for 10 seconds. Generally, this mode calibrates SENSORS on the boat, such as speedometer and fuel tank level sensor.

dont nail me on that but with ignition on press on hold the troll button until a quick settings menu appears and then brightness with + and - buttons.

or was it mode plus select ?

Thank you all again for the help.

We recently purchased a 2005 260 Sundancer with the 350 MPI and Bravo 3. I was out for our second day and when the boat was up on plane, if the boat caught a wake parallel to the boat direction it would veer off to port or strb and I could not get it back under control without backing down the throttle. The boat also leans severely in these conditions making it unnerving to all on board. Also, when trying to get the boat level with the trim tabs, the boat reacts in the similar way to any tab adjustment. I know that the center of gravity is higher on this boat but I wouldn't think it would affect the control of the boat this dramatically. Is this an issue with this model?

my sea ray 260 2005 does exactly the same I use only one trim tabs at the time and pretty much only the drive tabs to go on plan that’s it
But yes sometimes if I got distracted she makes crazy curve but only when trim tabs are in use
