I have a SeaRay 280 that when I took it out for the first time this year (the boat was winterized last year at the end of the season), she would not come up on plane. So we stayed in and that week I put gas staibilizer in it. The next week we went out and it took a little bit but she came up on plane (took longer than normal). Then about 5 minutes into the ride, a two beep alarm came on. I had already checked my fluids before I left and knew that all of them (stern drive included) were full. It did look like one of the batteries was not holding a charge like it should so I replaced the batteries that week. However, the last trip she was still having a hard time getting up on plane and the alarm continued to sound. I continued to cruise thinking that the sensor just needed to be reset; however, on the way back from our trip during the middle of the trip, I lost power. After about 5 minutes I was able to get back on plane and finish the trip. Thoughts on the problem?

yep, could be your Idle Air Control valve(s) need to be replaced. Do a search on IAC, should be lots of info.

Thanks TurtleTone, replaced the IAC Valve yesterday. Took me longer to find a dealer that had one in stock than anything else. Replaced it, took it for a 15 minute test ride...no alerts. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it won't happen on a longer run. thanks again.

Yeah, these things fail more often than a Dominican kid in the Bronx. I keep a spare on the boat.
