Anyone rebed and replace gasket on forward hatch on a 2004 to 2007 340 Sundancer? I have a slight leak (1 drop every 30 minutes in heavy rain). Cleaned gasket (which is in not great shape on the hatch glass) so I want to replace that too. Should I just replace hatch with a new one and how hard is it to do or just rebed old one and replace gasket?

thanks in advance

It's a pretty simple, straight forward job. There's no need to replace it. There's plenty of threads about this that you can search for... but essentially, remove the hatch (you'll see the screws) and then re-bed it with something like BoatLife LifeSeal or similar (NOT 3M 5200!!!). Some of the boats were built with a foam gasket being used between the hatch and the deck - don't use another foam gasket - use a proper sealant.

Tip... before you start, place masking tape tightly around the perimeter of the hatch to make cleanup easier.

Thanks much. I assume I should replace the gasket on the glass on the hatch too? Having a hard time finding it

The trapezoid hatch on these models is specific to Sea Ray and from my previous research Taylor Made will only sell the parts through Sea Ray dealers. That was a couple of years ago and not sure if anything has changed in the time since.

A couple of tips. First, when you have the hatch out, if there is any exposed wood core make sure you dry it and seal it up with resin. Second when you re-set the hatch, don't immediately tighten everything up. Give the sealant some time to set up and form. Otherwise, you'll just squeeze it all out. Good luck.

What type of resin would you use?
