2004 320DA with twin 350 mercruisers, V-Drives, 200 hours and intermittent 2 tone alarm approximately 2-3 minutes apart. While running in 3 footers for approximately 15 minutes i started to hear this alarm while simultaneously the starboard motor idled down to below 500 rpm's and stalled. The volt meter was declining from its normal position of 14.1 to below 13. All other operations were normal and the engine restarted and kept running with no problems. However, the alarm continued under way and outside of the alternator i am not sure what the problem might be.

Thoughts?!

Thank you!

this might sound overly simple, but I had the same thing happen last year. The wave action caused my alternator wire to break off. I would have thought IAC valve but it doesn't sound like you have any stalling--- the rpm's wouldn't be explained by the alternator wire however.

Thanks for the message. I will check the alternator wire but agree re the rpms. It sounds like from previous postings that it may very well be the IAC valve.

Thank you!
