I am getting mixed opinions on water in the bilge of my new to me 260 DA. I consistently have about an inch of water in the lowest part of the bilge. Is this normal? I have checked the obivious places and all seacocks are tight. Any thoughts?

I used to have 1/2" of water ALL the time when I got my 260 last year... then I found the culprit after many frustrated outings. It was the crappy quick disconnect fittings on the fresh water plumbing. I ended up replacing all the fittings with barbed fittings and hose clamps. :smt021

NO leaks and no water in the bilge AT ALL now. I'm not saying this is your problem but it may well be. If you have AC it could be condensate from the evaporator coil / condensate pan drain hose which flows into the sump under the waste basket in the cabin. The water accumulates there and is pumped out by a Rule Bilge pump if and when the Float switch is working. If the float switch doesn't work for whatever reason, the condensate water will fill up the sump box and overflow into the bilge. :wow:

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tips. The sellers mechnic replaced the fresh water pump when I purchased the boat a couple of weeks ago because it was not working. I will check the connections and see if I have the quick disconnects I do have air conditioning so I will check that out as well.

Thanks for your help!

Water in the bilge is not an option. You should be dry as a bone! It's coming from somewhere, unless you have put it there or the weather has, you should be dry.

This was my first guess as I just had the seals replaced on mine after I noticed it dripping when sitting in the water and the engine off..........obviously something else. Check all your hose clamps as suggested.

We had the same problem that I cleaned up for a few months. Finally I got tired of using the shop vac to pick up the stuff and talked to the MarineMax service manager. He convinced me water should be on the outside... Period. They found a loose hose clamp on the bottom of one engine which I could not see. Now, it's been 100% dry since Feb. Our boat stays in the water all of the time, so looks like they fixed it. No more water....
