please help I am close to buying a 2003 sundancer 320 with twin 6.2 ,v-drive. Wil this be underpowerd at all ? I am worried about the boat being to slow with a few people aboard and cargo. I have herd a few rumors about the standard 350's being underpowerd. Not sure what to think .Thanks:smt100

It is not underpowered. It is a good setup and the 350 mags are not underpowered either. You will enjoy the boat.

We love our 320 and the 350's work just fine. Ater crusing with some larger boats this summer and only using about half the gas as they did, that's when I thankful I had the smaller engines.

I own the same boat ! 2003 320 with 6.2's a/c and generator. Not underpowered at all. Just remember as formerly stated this is not a speed boat but a cruiser. We love ours and it has performed well with no major hiccups !! If you would like more specific answers please pm me and I will help in any way I can.

It will get up and go just fine with 6.2's. My 350's are adequate and 6.2's are a bit stronger. Good luck, you will love it!

Total BS rumor. My 320 with 5.7L handles the load (full fuel and several people on board) just fine. I never felt that she was underpowered.

Remember the 6.2's have the horsepower of the old 454's if not a bit more. You'll have plenty of power, Mike.

Yes, but they lack the torque of a big block. When I drove a 6.2 - 320 - I noticed the biggest difference in the acceleration on plane between a 350 mag and a 6.2 mpi. Less when getting on plane.

Neale13,

I have a 2003 320 Sundancer with twin 350 Mags V-Drive and it is plenty powerful and have had no problems. As SFergson727 stated it is not a speed boat it is a crusier. I had a 25ft Regal bowrider which would go 54 MPH compared to 35MPH in the 320. Trust me when I tell you that I enjoy boating far more with my 320 than I did with my 25ft Regal Bowrider and I believe you will too. The 320 is a great boat enjoy.

Just find a 320 with the 496's if you want to go faster. I have to assume it will do close to 50!

I can't even imagine 8.1's in a 320. I know they were an option some years but how would they fit them in there, with a shoe horn?

Here is a 320 with the big blocks.

I could sleep in that engine room, the v drives really take up a lot of room. along with a generator. I can hardly plant my foot on the floor.

Wow, what a difference those oudrives make! I still think the V-Drives are the way to go for handling and rough water performance but that's my opinion. Is there no genny in that boat? That is not an option for me...

That being said, that boat must be a rocket!

I have a 2007 with 350s and have had 10 people in the boat and it planed just fine. I could notice the extr weight but just push on the throttle a little more and she goes just fine. There are web site's to go to to review the gas consumption form the 6.2 to the 350. Mine gets 25-27 GPH not sure what the 6.2 does. I know this has been dicussed. But you will have more than enough power with the 6.2.
