Has anyone replaced or repaired a crack in the vacuum formed plastic sink in the cockpit of of their 340 SDA? I have found several threads about cracks in the sink, but no follow up. Mine has a crack in the bottom coming from he drain hole. I understand the original sink is no longer available. These were vacuum formed and extremely thin in some areas. I am going to call the OEM manufacturer tomorrow to see if I can at least get some info on the type of plastic and recommended repair, but I was hoping someone had already been through this.

I have the same problem. I uses a clear silicone. The first time it didn't work the second time I did it a bit different. I took the drain out. Then applied all the silicone on the crack which starts at the drain hole area. Then I put more silicone on the drain and dropped it back in.
I also put silicone on bottom. Obviously I let it dry. Actually a couple of days.
I know if I have to get the drain out it will be a nightmare. Anyway this has worked so far.

I am not sure if your cockpit sink was similar to mine on my 310 but when mine cracked, I threw it out and replaced it and the sprayer with stainless items from defender. I found a sink that drops right in and held in with silicone. I had to buy new drain parts as well. It makes the cockpit look much better then the cheap SR sink it came with.

This that close to what you're looking for?

As a alternate suggestion, find an aluminum sink (slightly larger) and recut the opening to a new sink. It's likely a corian counter and they are easy to cut.

Too small... Sounds easy enough to find something that will work, but an hour with google yesterday turned up nothing that was even workable. This sink is a bit of an oddball. The drain is offset to one side and needs to be to clear the refrigerator underneath. I did the lifeseal thing last year and it seemed to work, but i noticed it appeared to not be well adhered this past weekend. I filled the sink to test it and it was leaking again. The sealant pulled off with very little effort.I am being told by the manufacturer that the sink was a co-extrusion of acrylic and PVC. I do not believe this is correct, though I am certainly no materials engineer. If it is accurate, a proper repair should be fairly easy. I have removed my sink for closer examination. Because it was vacuum formed, it is extremely thin in some areas, one being the are of the drain. I found it somewhat odd that the sink was actually painted white on the exterior. After thinking about it, I believe the paint may have been to disguise that it was extremely thin in some areas. Holding it up to the light would have clearly shown the thin areas without the paint. I believe I have found a source for the OEM sink in very limited quantity. I have ordered one and hopefully it will be here by the end of the week. If it works out, I'll pass on the source.(after I order a second one for backup:grin:)

Replaced the cheapo plastic one with polished stainless. Much better look!

His profile indicates that he owned a 410 and 320. Your profile indicates a 340. The 340 sink is custom made specifically for that boat and you will not find a stainless replacement without major modifications to the sink and/or boat. The part # will do you no good unless you own or anticipate buying one of those boats. There is no drop in replacement stainless sink for the 340sda.

Oops, good catch.
