2003 340 DA Electronics Upgrade

Hi - Apologies in advance if this has been asked and answered. I am looking for advice on upgrading the original Raymarine Pathfinder RL70C radar/chartplotter (and optionally the SmartCraft unit) on my 2003 340 Sundancer.

• Most important for me is an easy to use/view chartplotter/depth gauge that can sync with Navionics or some other iPhone/iPad app.
• I don't need radar in the immediate future, but if the replacement worked with the existing radar dome, it would be a plus. If not, I would think about upgrading the dome in a few years.
• Also, the SmartCraft unit works fine but is a bit hard to view. I am aware of the new digital VesselView units, but is there a chartplotter that can also incorporate the data from the (Merc 8.1 gas) engines to eliminate the need for the SmartCraft?
• I am less interested in fishfinder functions.

I am in the process of upgrading the electronics on my 2003 320DA. I am not trying to promote one MFG over another but the Tech support folks at Raymarine have been fantastic to work with on the cables I need to use and what works with what. If you email them with what you are trying to do I think they will give you the guidance you are looking for.
