2002 410 DA dinghy davits

Your model year boat ended in 2002. The 2003/2004's moved to the 420 and a different hull. So make sure you're comparing yourself to the 97-02 lot, not the newer ones. They have very different platform configurations between them.

I'll be sporting a dinghy just shy of 500lbs on my platform this year using a Hurley H3O.

If you think you'll be below 350lbs I'd go with something like a Hurley H2O with a winch. Cheap, simple, effective. Especially for those of us with relatively low swim platforms.

At the end of the day the kind of davit you chose is very much Ford vs Chevy (personal preference, lots of opinions). There are a five or six popular styles/mfg's. All very different. You really have to decide between functionality, level of platform obstruction and cost.

Stee6043......I don't have the 2 level platform on my boat with the built in fender holders. My 2002 has a bolt on platform that is 36" deep and bolts right to the transom. I wonder if our transoms are the same? It looks like Sea Ray is closed for the holidays so I doubt I'll get an answer from them until after the new year goes through regarding transom strength. It seems there are quite a few people installing these davits on boats like mine and I've already been told that the platform is rated at 800 pounds.

That change in the two step platform is one of only a few "minor" differences between the 400/410 of our vintage. There should be no difference in our hull/transom assembly from everything I've read around these parts. Our platforms attach to the boat in the very same way. Sea Ray would surely be your best source of info though, like you said.

But really, I wouldn't be sweating 350lbs for another minute. Me, a friend and two cold beers exceeds 350lbs. I'd never think twice about having 2-3-4 adults on my platform....
