Anyone have any advice on how to disassemble the aft cabin sofa on a 2002 380 Sundancer to gain access to the compartment the hot water heater is in? Need to replace the heater, but can't seem to get the sofa cushions off to get the space needed.

I am looking for the specifics on how to get the aft cabin sofa apart (cushions off at least). The sofa in question is the aft cabin sofa that folds down with the buttons by the AC pad. Sounds like the one on the other post was under the mid berth. Thanks for any help.

I read the link above. Does anyone know where the phillips head screws are that he mentioned. There were 4 on the backrest and two on the seat. Not sure how to get to them. My cushions won't come off. They pull up in some spots, but won't come off.

Thanks!!

why do you need a new water heater? Is the element gone? I just replaced mine. Lots work but can be done thru front access door.

My midberth was designed to be a large back plate held to the rear enclosure by screws. When the screws were removed, the backplate came off. When the backplate came off, you could see the screws holding the folding midberth bunk floor to the fiberglass underbracing.

During a recent trip, noticed water soaking the carpet all around the mid berth area. Opened the access door and the compartment where the heater is was full of water. All inlet and outlet hoses check out with no leaks. Must have a leak somewhere in the heater. Can't visibly find the leak so I am thinking it is on the bottom or around the back.

Kevin--When you where looking for a leak did you have the fresh water pump on. It needs to be on to pressurize the system.

Pump was on. Only way to stop leak was to open the drain and let all the water out. Any thoughts on paying a little extra for SS tank?? Also bought a permanent bypass kit so this won't crash the whole water system on a trip if this happens again. Don't know if anyone has put these in and if they are as easy as they look. Any tips are appreciated.

We did this and it worked fine

My hot water tank is also leaking, can't see any visible leaks but every day I vac out the water and its slowly coming back, What brand tank did you use.?

Also did hot pot in a bypass and how?

Finally, my tray under the tank has no hole to drain into a bilge which seems odd, Did yours have a drain?

My 6 gal hot water tank is leaking, can't see any visible leaks but every day I vac out the water and its slowly fills the tray back. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot? Also any recommendations on what brand to replace with or avoid?

Also has anyone out in a bypass and how?
