2001 Toyota Celica GT-s

Anybody currently/previously own one of these cars. My daughter is lookng at one and wanted to know anyones experience with one. Good bad indifferent.

I manage an auto repair facility
those are great little cars...ask for maint records...kinda hard on brakes
if it's a stick shift they are notorious for clutch slaves leaking.
other than potential rust issues they are fairly bulletproof.

my advise have a used car inspection done by a third party...like a survey on a boat.
we charge 40.00 for a good general inspection.

I was mistaken, its just a GT, not a GTS. Automatic IL 4 with 130l miles on it. Thanks for the insight

still a good car
if the timing belt has not been changed yet or if you don't know if it has....plan on it asap
before it breaks and the engine is your newest most expensive anchor.

I bought one for my daughter and it got her thru school.....only problem with them is you will get tired of it before you wear it out. Ours had 265K miles on it when we replaced it.....I serviced it every 3000 miles. The guy who bought it is still driving it. Life blood of these little guys is regular service so getting a service record that shows something besides "Quicky Lube" is important.

WOOPS....they are chain in that year with the 1.8L

Hey Mopar, I took the car for a ride last night, everything seemed fine, everything functions. Only one issue, there was a vibration when at a stop, when at idle at a stop sign, like maybe too low an idle. If I put it in neutral it stopped and of course tach moves a little higher. Nothing while moving. What do you think.
