Hey guys, I am the proud new owner of a 2001 sundancer 240. I just picked up the boat yesterday so I am sure I will have a lot of questions but here goes my first....My boat is approximately 120 pounds overweight on the starboard side and is leaning at the dock. Currently the fresh water is about 3/4 full and the gas tank is almost full. I have dual batteries on the starboard side of the engine. When my wife walks to the port side the boat seems level. Does anybody know what could be causing this and do you have any idea how to fix it? I was thinking about moving one battery to the port side but I feel like that would have been done by Searay if it was neccesary. Thanks for any help.

Keep all your tools and as much heavy stuff on the port side :) seriously though, i used to worry about the same thing but searching i learned that others experience the same thing. I expect it to get worse when i put an airconditioner on the starboard side of the mid cabin behind the false wall.

Oh yeah, welcome to the forums. Its a great source of info for our boats.

mine leans to the port side but thats where my water tank and both batteries are. i am thinking about moving the batteries to the other side over the winter. my water tank only has about 10 gallons in it currently. but also, there were 4 of us on it sunday and when 1 would move from one side to the other i had to adjust my trim tabs to compensate

Thanks for the replies. It's not that bad after looking at it today and I was thinking if I add a granite countertop itll even it out so no need to move the batts :). Another question though...right now im plugged into shore power, batts are switched off and shore power switch is on. When I flip the switch I see the voltage on the metter move but neither the green nor red lights light up. Am I doing something wrong? Shouldn't the green light up if polarity is correct? Also will my batts charge doing it this way? Thanks.

From searching i have done batteries will charge even with the battery switched to off. I have not experienced any problems doing it like that. My greenblight does come on and the needle also indicates voltage. Perhaps the green light just doesnt work. Up to you if you want to try to replace that. Ive never had my reverse polarity light lit and i wouldnt inagine that being a concern unless i built my own power cable or wired the outlet myself which might lead to wires not bring on the correct terminal. If you are slipped at the marina and not using an outlet that you hooked up yourself at the dock i wouldnt worry about it.

I'm thinking the same thing - might just be a blown light. A couple things you can do...

... Check the green bulb for 12V+
... Observe the volt meter when you turn the charger on - you should see the volt meter dip slightly
... Physically look at the battery charger with and without the power on
... Check the voltage at the batteries with the charger off and then with it on

Great, I will try those tips tomorrow and I agree that the bulb is probably out. Thanks again!
