Have a potential client that is interested in a very nice 2001 Sea Ray 340 Amberjack, but only if he can add permanent perimeter seating in the cockpit. Anyone done this, or seen this done? Flip-down would be cool...

That year amberjack mostly came with a folding rear bench I believe. Or maybe it was an option.

I don't know about the Amberjack but the 370 EC the Amberjacks big brother came with a fold out seat in the stern and an optional large L shaped seat

The 340 amberjack and the 330 ec are very identical boats. I think the only difference was wood grain interior , colors, and electronics. But as for your qUestion searay did offer the option to have a large l shape perimeter seat in the cockpit. I've seen one 98 330 ec with this option. If you browse through yacht trader you should be able to find one with it installed so you can get a good look at what it's like.

The Amberjack's interior has a different layout than the 330 EC
If you like I have a picture of the L seat on my boat that I could look for.

I know the 330 and the 370 have a different layout but what's the difference between the 330 abd the 340?

The 340 has a dinette then an angled bed in the stateroom if memory is correct the 330 had more of a v berth with a table that lowers to make a bed in the stateroom

The bed in our 340 is more like a regular bed with the top corners cut off (the bow end). Being 6'4", its a much better way to sleep than in our 280.

I'm interested in this as well since I'm in the market for a 340AJ. My requirements are that it has the 8.1L engines, and the wife's requirements are that it has the L-shaped cockpit seating. So far I've not found one close enough to me to make it worthwhile, but it would sure open up the market for me if they (the boat and seating) could be purchased separately. I've even thought of having a quote to have it made (I have close friends that have the 340AJ with the seat so I could use theirs as a pattern), but I suspect that would be pretty expensive. This isn't the flip down seat, but the optional L Shaped seat like in this pic:

I'll be watching this thread!

you may want to do a google search for 'pontoon seating'.....there is a LOT of various seating components available that could likely be installed in an AJ without too much trouble....
