2001 34ft 6.2 MPI's Won't ideal down.

Came back in the marina and one of my engines wouldn't idle down, was at 2000 rpm. Checked everything mechanical seems fine and I can't get it to do it again. Has anyone had this happen? All the Marine mechanics I talked to had no ideas.

Won't idle down as in the engine dies or won't idle down as in the engine doesn't go below a certain RPM?

I've encountered the same problem. If the cables are original, perhaps the entire cable/housing is moving vs. the cable itself. If not secured properly and if not maintained, they cable will wear a groove in the housing. Despite the appearance of full movement, it is not really so. That was my problem.
