I am trying to locate the amplifier on my 2000 340 sundancer. I tried following the remote cables and it seems to go under dash but cant seem to see it. Does any one have the manual for Clarion XMD3. Thanks in advance Rich

Check inside your electrical panel in your cabin. That's where my 2 are.

The stereo amplifier for my clarion system is located on the starboard handing closet just before the aft cabin. It is on the wall facing the bow. I found it by mistake one day. It was well hidden and with low light hard to see. I think this is the location on the upgrade from Sea Ray on that year boat.

I would like to see some type of cockpit mount for a ipod or droid that would connect to the stereo. Then I could control from the helm. THat would be cool:grin:.

mquiet I looked in closet it wasnt there I will check in electrical panel but it would seem funny for them to run the speaker wires all the way to other side of boat from radio. Now thinking about it all of the speaker wires are hooked to receiver. If it had a amp wouldnt the speaker wires be connected to the amp. I dont have the wiring diagram for the unit. Iam going back today and look some more

Yes they would, perhaps your stereo does not have a separate amp.

Sea Ray had two stereo versions for that year. A standard setup did not include amplifier and subwoofer. Stereo would lead to amp and then from there to speakers and subwoofer. My version has a subwoofer mounted under the helm seating facing the port side. If you do not have this set up...add amplifier in in hanging closet (easy to run wires there) and then use space under helm seating. if you need pictures I should be going to the boat tomorrow and I can take a few pictures.

I bought a cigarette lighter plug in adapter from Best Buy that my ipod docks into. It transmits on an fm frequency that is changeable and charges the ipod as well. I can change tunes from the helm and it works great. The downside was the price at $ 100.

I hardwired two mp3 connections to my Clarion XMD3.
I took the radio out and found the "Auxillary" rca wires and put a splitter from Radio Shack on them. I then connected a mp3 connection to each splitter. One mounted in the electrical panel and one mounted at the helm right in the starboard panel close to the throttles. The one in the cabinet is black and the one outside is white, so they match the decor. One can hardly even notice them unless the actual wire is connected.

The only thing is my Ipod headphone jack is going out and it only plays on the right side.:smt013 It's about a $100 fix, but I just might buy a new Ipod as they have come way down in price.

Thanks guys I definitely don't have the subwoofer and amp I want to upgrade the stereo and add a powered bass tube this spring. It looks like it would be easier to just put a subwoofer under seat like stock setup how does stock unit sound. I have always used bass tubes with good results I just don't know how it would sound in the rear seat totally enclosed. Thanks again Rich

The amps in my 2000 340 were behind the stereo, mounted to either end of the cabinet space the stereo is in. They are very small, like 2x4x6 or so.

I upgraded all of my stuff. The amps are now under the rear in the dinette. I had them in the rear closet for awhile, but they are VERY hard to get to back in there, and I worried about "stuff" blocking airflow to them. The space under the seats is hard to use anyway, so I just claimed the one side for the amps. If you do upgrade the amps - you'll want to run new power to them as well - as the factory supplies are not heavy enough to run larger amps.
