I know there have been other posts on this, but it was a bit difficult to navigate my search results so I am posting as a new thread.
I recently purchased a 2000 340 Sundancer. It has the OEM Raymarine R70 (?) Radar/Chartplotter, as part of the standard electronics package (Sat 3).
I would like to remove the stock Raymarine unit and replace with a new color chartplotter. Though a nice feature to have, I do not necessarily need to keep the radar function (plus I could use the several inches gained in bridge clearance if I remove it and cost savings in the new purchase), I really just want a good color chartplotter (minimum of 7"-9") that will fit in the same helm location at an affordable price - is affordable really even in the boating dictionary anywhere. Also, looking for ease of installation. That is, hoping if will tie into my existing electronics if needed to function (IE, transducer, etc) or it will just be a stand alone unit that basically just needs power and possibly a remote antenna. My boating is all on the California - Sacramento Delta.
Thanks in advance for any help, suggestions.

If you have an Android tablet that you don't use, download the Navionics app. It's $65/year but works flawlessly. And if you already have the tablet then you are saving even more. I used this to get me from Grand Island NY to Long Point, Lake Erie. I also store all my manuals on the tablet as well.
I have also tried the iBoat app that works pretty well too. It's $10/year but not as smooth functioning as Navionics. iBoat will not work on older tablets (Acer A500 for example) due to the older graphics processor.
A good option to consider.

Bobt2000 - I do have the Navionics app on my iPad. It is a great app. and it has worked well for me when I was on our lake before moving to our new boat on the Delta. I had hoped it would perform as well for me there. However, the cell service in the waters we now boat in is sketchy at best, so it does not track our position.
