Hi All,

First time boat owner looking to buy a 260 Sea Ray with around 800 hours on it. Boat is in great shape. I'm looking to pick it up this weekend.

I looked through the forums, but couldn't find a lot of info on these. I boat at Lake of the Ozarks, but I'm in a relatively quiet cove (not a lot of time on the main channel. Will probably do that during the week and not busy holiday weekends).

Anything to look out for on this model?

I assume that boat is a 260 Sundeck? If so I think it's one of the most well regarded bow riders Sea Ray ever made. Many, many happy current and past owners. There is likely a specific thread for that model over in the Sport Boat section of this site.

Welcome.

Those 260 bowriders (it wouldn't be a Sundeck from that era with that designation) were/are beautiful boats. They ride wonderfully.

There's nothing really to "watch out for" - besides, at this point it's a quarter century old - so you're really just looking for normal things that happen with age. No different than any other boat. The engine/drive is the same as is in thousands and thousands of other boats - meaning, feel free to look up other boats and everything you see there about the engine and/or drive will apply to you.

The guy told me it ticks all the necessary boxes (multi-port injection, dual prop). He pointed out how the build quality on a sea ray is much better than a regal or a rinker. Cant wait to de-winterize in a few weeks.

Let me be the first to congratulate you son the new boat and welcome you here. Next step, post pictures of the boat!

I appreciate it. It’s got 1,100 hours but fired right up. If I can get another 300-400 hours before rebuild I’ll be happy.

How do I find out value for 97 260 bow ryder

The value will be subjective to the boat’s condition and maintenance history. A start would be to look for comparable boats for sale to get in the ball park of asking prices.

Given the condition I would say this is a salvage hull for parts. Without a trailer I would give this boat a value between I will remove it for free and $2000 depending on whether you can put hands on it to see if the motor turns over and runs.

The problem with JD Power, NADA, or any other boat valuation, is that for a nice boat, you can double that price, especially this time of year. Condition is everything for something from the 90's/early 2000's.

Thanks for all the imput I have some homework to
do . As I need to determine its real condition just wondering its fully rebuilt value will make it worth it .
