Does your boat have the Smartcraft data system? Diesel View?
If not what drives your helm gauges - if you know?

Thanks - for a Friend in need.

I may be completely off base here, but I think Smartcraft and Diesel View came on line late in 2003. Our 2003 420DA with 6CTAs did not have it.

Yes it was mid 2003 and Smartcraft used the SAE J1939 output from the engine ECM for the data.
It's before I'm wondering about. The helm gauges were driven by a "gauge Interface module". The guy I'm trying to help seems to have a failed gauge interface module and none can be sourced.

So, some say the engine ECM for these years of Sea Ray provides SAE J1708 and others including me believe SAE J1587 that provides engine data to the gauge interface module.

Since his gauge package is terminal, I'm trying to evaluate options. My first recommendation is to camp the engine data and fuel tank data on a NMEA 2000 backbone then go from there.

However, I need to know what the ECM data protocol is and if the pre 2000 QSM11's had J1939 but that just wasn't used by Mercury....

Long shot but there is a lot of experience here.

Thanks

Recently bought a 2002 480 sedan bridge with QSM11’s. I understand that the QSM 11 have an issue due to the dry turbos and you can de pitch the prop to help with this. I understand I’ll lose speed but what props should I run to help try to mitigate the dry turbo exhaust manifold issue? my current props are 28r 32.

Every boat and prop is different. You want to be at close to 17 GPH per engine at 1800 - 1900 RPM.
A good prop shop can re-pitch to meet the needed performance. If you run the boat and note RPM and Fuel burn the shop can re-pitch to where they need to be.
If I remember mine are Nibril 4 blade 28X31.

There is a lot of discussion on the QSM11's and getting the boat set up correctly on this forum.
